As for us, we gained many insights from the movie that could be applied to our own lives.
Be Curious: Curiosity is the breeding ground of existential thought. WALL-E's curiosity eventuated in a revolution that brought independent thinking and encouraged people to explore without considering what the "crowd" was doing. By being curious ourselves, we might discover, explore, and understand our world differently. Society, if more curiosity was encouraged, would become chaotic in a good way; people will start branching out. Instead of seeing many people stay the same course we will see a society that is teeming with diverse and independent beings who shape their own courses in life.
As a students, we are surrounded primarily by one thing: education. Choosing to be more curious, especially as we learn and grow, could prompt us, even take us, down new paths and discover new avenues. The most revered and brilliant people of our time, we noticed, have upbringings that are jarringly different than the ones we are living now; curiosity opens the door to follow new, undiscovered paths that will eventually shape us into unique individuals. Something as simple as being curios during our learning and growing periods could change anything from the way we view problems to radically altering our personality.
Take a risk: Risk-taking is one form of authentic choice. A risk many not necessarily be something bold or dangerous--it can simply be something that falls out of line with what everyone else is thinking. A risk signals that a choice was made that reflects what the individual wants over what the crowd believes, the heart of existential thought. Throughout the movie, WALL-E makes hundreds of decisions that in no way reflect what his companion robots have been doing or programming suggests.
